    News|ZCMU Attended the 7th Belt and Road Forum for Traditional Chinese Medicine Development

    On September 13th, the 7th Belt and Road Forum for Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Development was held at the China National Convention Center in Beijing. The forum was co-hosted by the World Trade Point Federation and the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, and jointly organized by the World Federation of Acupuncture-Moxibustion Societies, the China News of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the Secretariat of the Belt and Road TCM Development Forum. Wu Zhendou, head of the international cooperation department of the National Administration of TCM, Bruno Masier, President of WTPF, and representatives from the Ministry of Health of countries such as Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Cuba, the World Health Organization, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization attended the forum and delivered speeches. Wu Chengliang, Vice President of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (ZCMU). was invited to attend and participate in the keynote speech session.



    Wu Chengliang delivered a speech on “Strengthening Cooperation Between Chinese and Western Medicine for Comprehensive TCM Development.” He introduced the efforts and achievements of ZCMU in innovating talent cultivation systems, promoting scientific innovation to help the inheritance and development of TCM, and comprehensively strengthening affiliated hospitals. He said that ZCMU has adjusted the layout of majors scientifically to strengthen the majors connotation, and promote the cultivation of top innovative talents. In terms of scientific innovation, Wu Chengliang noted that ZCMU focuses on integration and innovation to promote the development of new quality productive forces in TCM and emphasizes international cooperation to help answer key interdisciplinary questions in TCM. Regarding medical services, he highlighted the practice of Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which led the prevention and treatment of severe hematological diseases in China through the integration of Chinese and Western medicine. Finally, Wu Chengliang called on participants to work together to promote the deep integration of Chinese and Western medicine and make greater contributions to human health.



    The Belt and Road Forum for TCM Development was one of the thematic forums of the 2024 China International Fair for Trade in Services, centered on the theme “Deepening Openness and Cooperation of Belt and Road Traditional Chinese Medicine Development and Jointly Creating a Global Community of Human Health”. During the event, Wu Chengliang also had cordial exchanges with a ZCMU alumnus, the head of the Department of Natural and Traditional Medicine at the Cuban Ministry of Public Health.
