On May 17, the Exchange and Dialogue-2024 International Forum of Traditional Medicines & the 2nd Conference of CACM-IPFJ (China Association of Chinese Medicine-International Influence Promotion Platform for English TCM Journals) was inaugurated in Hangzhou. Jointly hosted by the China Association of Chinese Medicine and Zhejiang Chinese Medical University, the conference was chaired by Chen Zhong, President of ZCMU, and Xu Jianguang, Former President of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Wang Guochen, Vice President and Secretary General of the CACM; Ying Xiangwei, Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Society of Editology for Scientific and Technological Periodicals; Wu Chengliang, Vice President of ZCMU, and various distinguished scholars and international guests from the fields of traditional medicine and publishing attended the opening ceremony. Ma Jun, Deputy Secretary General of CACM, presided over the opening ceremony.
Chen Zhong highlighted the progress of ZCMU in becoming a first-class TCM university and the development of English TCM journals. He noted that this conference marks the first attempt at a “publication-research integration” model, attracting world-renowned scholars and experts to share the latest research in traditional medicine, thereby boosting the international influence of TCM journals.
Ying Xiangwei remarked that this conference is a proactive exploration of the mutual promotion and integration of academic research and scientific journals. He expressed hope that all parties would further enhance the effectiveness of international communication, contributing to the development of a thriving scientific and technological culture in Zhejiang Province.
Xu Jianguang pointed out the critical task of improving the academic quality and international influence of TCM journals, showcasing cutting-edge research in TCM, and building a global scholarly profile for TCM researchers. He hoped this meeting would foster consensus and momentum, advancing the development of English TCM journals.
Wang Guochen stressed the importance of enhancing TCM’s role in global traditional medicine exchanges and cooperation, which requires continuous improvement in international academic communication. He emphasized that the internationalization of TCM journals should focus on promoting academic exchanges and knowledge integration across different cultural environments and research systems. He hoped that collective efforts would propel the heritage, innovation, and international development of TCM.
The opening ceremony also featured the launch of the research project, Global English TCM Journals Development Analysis Report.
During the Reporting Session of the forum, President Chen Zhong and other renowned traditional medicine scholars delivered presentations. The session was chaired by Vice President Wu Chengliang.
In the Exchange and Dialogue session, domestic and international scholars of traditional medicine shared the latest research findings and experiences from their respective countries, engaging in academic discussions.
The conference provided an excellent platform for the exchange and cooperation of traditional medicine globally. It significantly contributes to the creation of first-class scientific journals, the high-quality development of journal publishing and dissemination in traditional medicine, and the enhancement of TCM’s international communication efficacy.
