    News|ZCMU Hosts 2023 Cross-Strait Youth TCM Cultural Exchange

    The opening ceremony of the 2023 Cross-Strait Youth TCM Cultural Exchange was held at ZCMUs Binwen Campus on July 9. Officials from ZCMU and Zhejiang provincial government authorities, as well as 40 faculty members and students from ZCMU and Taiwan universities, including Fooyin University, Providence University, Hungkuang University, and Yuanpei University of Medical Technology, attended the ceremony.

    Cao Qifeng, deputy director of Zhejiang Province’s Health Commission and Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, pointed out in his speech that Chinese medicine was a remarkable creation of the Chinese nation, and that strengthening cross-strait youth exchanges and cooperation in Chinese medicine culture was conducive to the spread and exchange of Chinese culture. He hoped that youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait would share ideas and achievements, foster mutual growth, and promote exchanges between the two sides.

    Huang Wenxiu, secretary of ZCMU’s Party committee, welcomed the teachers and students from Taiwan. During his address, he provided an overview of ZCMU’s history, past exchanges with Taiwan, and its special TCM education. Huang hoped that through this event, youth from both sides of the Taiwan Strait would deeply feel the profound and unique charm of TCM culture, achieve mutual progress, and draw strength from the study of treasured traditional Chinese culture to create a better future together.

    President Lin Huixian from Fooyin University delivered a speech via video. She hoped that through this event, the mutual understanding of the youth on both sides would be facilitated and more cooperation between the universities would be deepened.

    Prof. Chen Shuru from the Department of Food and Nutrition of Providence University, said that Providence University and ZCMU maintained a deep friendship and she expected that students from the two schools could further share educational resources and make progress.

    The opening ceremony was hosted by ZCMU Vice President Wu Chengliang.

    Deputy Division Chief Lou Dong from the Communication Division of Taiwan Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province, Zeng Xiaofei, Deputy Division Chief from the Division of the Traditional Chinese Medicine Inheritance and Innovation under Zhejiang Province’s Health Commission, Ma Chongyang, Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, awarded flags to the participants of the exchange event, Taiwanese youths in China’s mainland, and student volunteer representatives of ZCMU.


    The event, lasting for one week, was hosted by ZCMU and organized by the School of Public Health. The youths from both sides of the Taiwan Strait would engage in Chinese medicine study, cultural visits, and Chinese medicine culture experience.
