On June 2, the Seminar on Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture for Belt and Road Countries came to study at ZCMU. The seminar is a training program for international business officials of the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, with participants coming from 12 countries along the “Belt and Road”, including Portugal, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Uzbekistan and Malaysia. A total of 35 government officials from education, medical and health sectors, heads of higher education institutions, etc. participated in the seminar. The welcome ceremony was attended by Wu Chengliang, Vice President of ZCMU, Zhao Haoxing, President of China-Africa Cross Border E-commerce College of Zhejiang Gongshang University, and Program Director of International Business Officials Training Institute of the Ministry of Commerce.
In the welcoming ceremony, Wu Chengliang, Vice President of ZCMU, gave a speech first, welcoming everyone to beautiful Hangzhou and ZCMU. He pointed out that TCM has been introduced to 196 countries and regions. 113 WHO member countries have recognized acupuncture, moxibustion, massage and other TCM treatments, and 29 countries have legislated on TCM. Chinese medicine is playing a more and more important role in the world, which makes the world know China better at the same time. He hoped that the seminar participants can experience the profound Chinese medicine culture in this seminar, and can play the role as a bridge to explore the opportunities and potential of cooperation between countries with China and ZCMU in the fields of education and medical treatment.
In the speech of Zhao Haoxing, President of China-Africa Cross Border E-commerce College of Zhejiang Gongshang University, he pointed out that TCM is not only culture, but science and industry. He hoped that practitioners can work together to help Chinese medicine go out to benefit more people in the world. Next, Mr. Dilip Hikkaduwa LIYANAGE from the Northern Provincial Council of Sri Lanka Ministry of Health spoke on behalf of the seminar participants. He was very glad that all practitioners could come together to carry out the training activities on Chinese medicine culture and hoped that they could continue to carry out Chinese medicine-related practices in the future.
In the Chinese medicine culture lecture and seminar session, Director Wang Ying of the International Relations Office of ZCMU first introduced an overview of the international exchange and cooperation development in Chinese medicine, especially the work done by ZCMU in the construction of overseas Chinese medicine centers and cultivation of foreign students in China under the guide of "One Belt, One Road" initiative. She also issued a cooperation initiative to the participants representing each country. Dr. Huang Zaiwei from the International Education College of ZCMU gave a lecture entitled "Understanding the Development of Chinese Medicine from the Prospective of Acupoints", in which he talked about the origin, development and current status of TCM from Shuxue (腧穴). The participants warmly received his lecture.
During the visit, all members of the seminar also enjoyed a Tai Chi performance and visited the Zhejiang Chinese Medicine Museum.
