On the evening of April 26, the first lecture of ZCMU 2023 International Academic Frontier Lecture Series was held in the Library Lecture Hall of Binwen Campus. Professor Martin Bachmann from the Nuffield Department of Medicine of the University of Oxford, Director Wang Ying and Deputy Director Wang Jingna from the International Relations Officeof ZCMU, Vice Dean Tao Fangfang from the School of Basic Medical Sciences and more than 200 teachers and students attended the Lecture Series.
Director Wang Ying gave an opening speech, pointing out that internationalization is a necessary quality for modern citizens. By introducing overseas high-quality educational resources through various ways, opening up overseas communication channels for students and creating multicultural exchange platforms, ZCMU cultivates students’ ability to study and work in the context of globalization, and encourages everyone to fully seize the opportunity of international academic frontier lectures and improve international academic ability.
Vice Dean Tao Fangfang presided the first lecture as the guest of honor and introduced the background of the guests and the current frontier cancer vaccine research direction in detail.
Professor Martin Bachmann, from the Nuffield Department of Medicine of the University of Oxford, gave a lecture entitled "The design principles and clinical trial immunology of cancer vaccines and human therapeutic vaccines". He shared the first birth of human vaccines, the vaccine’s mechanism of action and his current research on cancer vaccines and communicated well with the students and faculty members on site.
The Lecture Series will invite experts and professors from University of Oxford, Harvard University, Stanford University, Brown University, University of Alberta, KarolinskaInstituteand other world-class institutions to give academic lectures on public health, psychiatry, life science, medicine and other fields, enabling ZCMU students and faculty to understand the frontiers of related fields and providing opportunities to get in close contact with professors from world-renowned universities.
