Recently, the Office of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Zhejiang Province announced the list of provincial key research centres of philosophy and social sciences. The “Zhejiang Institute of Chinese Medicine Culture,” declared by ZCMU, was selected as the key cultivation research institute of philosophy and social sciences of Zhejiang Province, which was the first provincial key research centre of philosophy and social sciences at ZCMU.

The head of the institute is Prof. Huang Wenxiu, Secretary of the Party Committee of ZCMU and President of the Zhejiang Institute of Chinese Medicine Culture. Relying on the first-level disciplines of doctoral programs-Traditional Chinese Medicine and Pharmacology, the institute aims to build a high-quality primary theoretical research platform with recognition in Zhejiang and academic visibility and establish an academic highland in Chinese medicine culture research at home and abroad and a key research base of philosophy and social sciences in Zhejiang Province.

The institute has three main research directions:

1. Chinese medical history and literature

2. Chinese medicine policies and regulations

3. Chinese medicine health culture research

Under construction, the institute will integrate the scientific research resources and research platform within ZCMU, take the Zhejiang provincial cultural projects as highlights, the philosophy and social science achievement awards of the Ministry of Education of the PRC and Zhejiang Province as the target, carry out in-depth research in various aspects of Chinese medical history and literature, Chinese medicine policies and regulations, Chinese medicine health culture, etc. It will build a research base of Zhejiang Provincial Chinese medicine culture that integrates TCM life &health, Chinese medicine policies and regulations construction, and humanities and social sciences in one,thus providing strong support for promoting the construction of first-class TCM university and the development of a strong TCM culture in Zhejiang province.
