ZCMU Collaborative Innovation Center of Traditional Chinese Medicine for Pain Management led by Prof. Fang Jianqiao was included in the list of the seventh batch of Zhejiang Provincial Collaborative Innovation Centers recently released by the Department of Education of Zhejiang Province.

Based on the Third Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University (Zhongshan Hospital of Zhejiang Province), the Center features a team of 60 people, among which 9 are PhD supervisors, 34 hold doctorate degrees, and 40 figure in talent plans and programs. The Center conducts innovative research on pain management with TCM in collaboration with 14 Chinese universities, research institutes, hospitals, and enterprises. The Fang’s Transcutaneous Electrical Acupoint Stimulator and SDZ-IIB Nerve and Muscle Stimulator developed under the collaboration have come on the market.

Targeting problems including the high prevalence of pain, excessive consumption of medical resources, and inadequacy of the existing treatment, the Center will further its collaboration with high-level universities, research institutes, hospitals, and enterprises on the origins of pain, mechanism of pain relief with TCM, TCM therapy, and drug and medical equipment development. It will also continue to cultivate a cohort of innovative talents and a high-caliber research team and build a first-class platform for pain management with TCM, contributing more to people’s well-being and the construction of a healthy Zhejiang.
