Prof. Wang Qi, an Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and National TCM Master, was appointed as a distinguished professor and honor dean of the Academy of Living Inheritance Classics of Zhejiang Chinese Medical University on August 6.
Chen Chunlei, deputy secretary of the Education Working Committee of Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee; Cao Qifeng, deputy director of the Health Commission and Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Zhejiang Provincial; Huang Wenxiu, secretary of the Party Committee of ZCMU; Chen Zhong, president of ZCMU; Zhang Guangji, deputy secretary of the Party Committee of ZCMU; Wu Chengliang, vice president of ZCMU; leaders from the China Association of Chinese Medicine; leaders and experts from TCM colleges and universities; heads of relevant departments and representatives of teachers and students at ZCMU attended the appointment ceremony hosted by Prof. Zhang Guangji.
Academician Wang Qi expressed his gratitude for the appointment and acknowledged ZCMU's progress in constructing a first-class TCM university. Wang Qi said that living inheritance is different from static inheritance, and only the former can better apply classical theoretical knowledge to today's research. To promote TCM inheritance and development and become a first-class TCM university, ZCMU should give full play to the role of the Academy of Living Inheritance Classics, combine university education and academy education, and develop the Academy of Living Inheritance Classics into a platform for academic exchanges, knowledge dissemination and talent cultivation.

Huang Wenxiu pointed out that ZCMU is promoting the construction of first-class TCM university comprehensively. In this process, talent is the principle element. ZCMU will take the appointment of Wang Qi as an opportunity to implement extraordinary initiatives further, introduce more high-level talents and thus build a team of high-caliber talents for high-quality development of ZCMU and the construction of a healthy Zhejiang with strength in TCM.

Prof. Wang Qi is a National TCM Master, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and International and Eurasian Academy of Sciences, a leading scientist in the National Key Basic Research Program, and a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance. He currently serves as a tenured professor (first-level) at Beijing University of Chinese Medicine(BUCM), dean of the National Institute of TCM Constitution and Preventive Medicine, BUCM, and leader of the constitutional study in TCM of the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. He has developed andrology, constitutional study, viscera-state and abdominal examination study in TCM, and extended the academic fields of TCM with his contributions to TCM original thinking and the science of preventive treatment of diseases of TCM.
