    ZCMU Professor Wang Yongjun was selected as National TCM Master and Professors Lian Jianwei, He Jialin and Chen Yi were selected as National Famous TCM Doctors in the fourth Commendation Conference for National TCM Masters and the second Commendation Conference for National Famous TCM Doctors on July 20th. The Conferences were held in Beijing by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, National Health Commission and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the form of teleconference, and the branch conference in Zhejiang was held in the Zhejiang People’s Great Hall.

    Wang Renyuan, director of the Health Commission and Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Zhejiang Province, and Huang Wenxiu, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee of ZCMU attended the Commendation Conference and congratulated the four professors.

    National TCM Master is the highest honor in the field of TCM. Its selection has been held every five years since 2009, with 30 selected each time. National Famous TCM Doctor is an outstanding model in the TCM industry. Two selections have been held since 2017, and 101 National Famous TCM Doctors were selected this time.

    Professor Wang Yongjun

    Prof. Wang Yongjun is a tenured academic tutor of the Hangzhou TCM Hospital Affiliated to ZCMU and academic leader of nephrology, a national key discipline. He majored in clinical medicine in Zhejiang Medical University and graduated in 1966. He once served as Vice Chairman of the Nephropathy Professional Committee of the China Association of Chinese Medicine(CACM) and Nephropathy Professional Committee of the Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine. He is a consultant of the Nephropathy Branch of CACM, and Honorary Chairman of the Nephropathy Professional Committee of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies. Prof. Wang is a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance and is among the second, fourth, sixth and seventh batch of advisors of the inheritance of national senior TCM experts’ academic experience. In 2017, he was selected into the first batch of National TCM Masters by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, National Health and Family Planning Commission(dissolved in 2018 and its functions were integrated into the National Health Commission), and National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2018, he was included in the first batch of Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished TCM Doctors by the Zhejiang Provincial Health and Family Planning Commission, Zhejiang Province Human Resources and Social Security Department, and Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Zhejiang Province. In 2021, he was bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Award for Doctors of Zhejiang Province by the Zhejiang Provincial Party Committee and People’s Government of Zhejiang Province. In 2022, he was selected into the fourth batch of National TCM Masters. Prof. Wang has been in the practice of medicine for 65 years with integrity and industry, and has treated countless patients with superb medical expertise combined with tradition and modernity. He has advanced the theory of “rheumatism causing nephropathy”, improved the system of TCM microcosmic syndrome differentiation of kidney diseases and constructed the five-type syndrome differentiation and treatment scheme of IgA nephropathy. He has greatly expanded the TCM four diagnostic methods with the “image thinking” in Chinese culture and the clinical thinking of “disease recognition-syndrome differentiation-syndrome/disease treatment”.

    Professor Chen Yi

    Prof. Chen Yi is a TCM chief physician of the First Affiliated Hospital of ZCMU (Zhejiang Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine), professor and PhD supervisor of ZCMU, and advisor of the inheritance of national senior TCM experts’ academic experience in the fourth, sixth and seventh batch, and advisor of the Advanced Training Program for National Outstanding Clinical Talents of TCM in the second, third, fourth and fifth batch. He was selected as Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished TCM Doctor by the People’s Government of Zhejiang Province in 1998, appointed as Vice President of the Zhejiang Provincial Famous TCM Doctors Research Institute by the Health Bureau of Zhejiang Province in 2007 and Multidisciplinary Medical Consultation Expert for Central Government Officials by the Central Healthcare Committee in 2009, and included in the first batch of Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished TCM Doctors by the Health Commission of Zhejiang Province in 2018. He used to be a member of the Standing Committee of the 10th Zhejiang Provincial People’s Congress, and a consultant of the Herbal Paste Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine. Prof. Chen attaches great importance to the inheritance and teaching of TCM and commits himself to spreading his academic and clinical experience of TCM. He was named as Outstanding Advisor of the Inheritance of National Senior TCM Experts’ Academic Experience in the Fourth Batch by the National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Outstanding Individual in Cadre Healthcare of Zhejiang Province by the Zhejiang Provincial Healthcare Committee in 2011. In his over 60 years of medical practice, Prof. Chen has diagnosed more than one million people with his proficiency in TCM classics and the thoughts of TCM schools. Originating from the classics and integrating merits from various schools, his prescriptions are flexible with his own style. Upholding medical ethics, Prof. Chen focuses on the balance in qi regulation under the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment.


    Professor He Jialin

    Prof. He Jialin, who has been in the practice of TCM since November 1962, serves as the director of the Hangzhou TCM Hospital Affiliated to ZCMU, consultant of the Gynecology Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine(CACM), Honorary Chairman of the Gynecology Branch of the Zhejiang Association of Chinese Medicine and advisor of the inheritance of national senior TCM experts’ academic experience in the third, fourth, sixth and seventh batch. She was bestowed the State Council Special Allowance, named as Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished TCM Doctor in 1998, selected into the second batch of Distinguished TCM Gynecologists by CACM in 2013, awarded The Most Beautiful TCM Doctor by CACM in 2017, The Most Beautiful Hangzhou Person by the Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and Hangzhou People’s Government, and Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished TCM Doctor in 2019, and conferred the honor of Hangzhou Craftsman and Hangzhou May Day Labor Medal by the Hangzhou People’s Government in 2020. Dedicated to the inheritance and innovation of TCM for 60 years, Prof. He, as the fourth-generation inheritor of He’s gynecology in Zhejiang, has formed the principle of “transforming qi in a holistic way and giving treatment according to patient, season and locality; prioritizing yin blood and highlighting yang qi; paying attention to eight extraordinary channels, and conception and thoroughfare vessel damage; attaching importance to liver and kidney which are congenital essentials; focusing on acquired conditions and strengthening the spleen and stomach”. She is adept at fully tapping into the therapeutic advantages of TCM for menstruation regulation, fertility treatment and miscarriage prevention with remarkable clinical efficacy. He’s Gynecology was selected into the first batch of construction projects for National TCM Academic School Inheritance Workshops, and included in Hangzhou Intangible Cultural Heritage in 2016.


    Professor Lian Jianwei

    Prof. Lian Jianwei, former Vice President of ZCMU, is a professor, TCM chief physician and PhD supervisor at ZCMU. He graduated from Beijing College of Traditional Chinese Medicine(predecessor of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine) in December 1980, among the first batch of graduates with a master’s degree in Chinese medicine. He has been Chairman and Honorary Chairman of the Traditional Chinese Medical Formulae Branch of the China Association of Chinese Medicine for consecutive years. Prof Lian is recipient of the State Council Special Allowance and is among the third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh batch of advisors of the inheritance of national senior TCM experts’ academic experience. He was appointed as Cadre Healthcare Expert of Zhejiang Province in 2005 and librarian of the Zhejiang Provincial Research Institute of Culture and History in September 2008. In 2017, he was selected into the first batch of Zhejiang Provincial Distinguished TCM Doctors. In his 52 years of medical practice, Prof. Lian tried to make simple and cheap prescriptions with less but more effective medicine. Trusted by patients, he has treated tens of thousands of people with medical ethics and superb medical skills. Prof. Lian excels in treating internal diseases of TCM, especially digestive disorders and is proficient in syndrome differentiation based on pulse mechanism. He attaches importance to preventive treatment, human-nature relationship, and regulation and balance in disease treatment. For difficult cases, he mainly focuses on the liver and spleen, emphasizing the principle of stomach governing down-bearing and spleen governing up-bearing functions should be followed. He also highlights liver regulation, liver-spleen harmonization, supplement without stagnation and relief without attack, and the essential role of stomach qi in difficult cases. Prof. Li has skillfully adopted and combined ancient effective prescriptions with clinical flexibility and also invented effective prescriptions such as Butu Roumu Decoction and Jiao Tong Xin Shen Decoction. He keeps standing at the front line of teaching to cultivate TCM talents.
